The 1st February 2010 saw us called into action for the first time this year.
In the early hours of the morning our monitoring centre received a couple of alarm triggers. A few minutes later we were chatting with a slightly concerned owner wondering why his alarm would trigger in the middle of the night whilst his caravan was safe in secure storage? It took moments to confirm the van was on the move!
A no doubt nail-biting 44 minutes later we were able to confirm a handful of officers on site safely securing the 2007 Bailey caravan.
In the morning we were able to confirm the circumstances of the theft… A total of 8 vans had been moved to allow removal of the target caravan from the storage site, with fence panel and even branches of trees cut to prevent damage!
The Police also recovered a stolen tow-car still attached, a second van from the site along with a stolen JCB and various possessions from the other caravans. A total recovery of over £80,000 worth!! Not bad for 40 minutes work!! |
